What ChonkChat is

ChonkChat is a small, independent website that lets you chat with Mistral Le Chonk, the nickname of Mistral Large 4, in your browser. You sign in with Google, get a few free messages, and buy credits if you want to keep going.

We are not Mistral AI and we are not endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to them. Mistral, Mistral Large 4 and Le Chonk belong to their respective owners. ChonkChat sends your messages to Mistral’s public API and shows you the answer. For the official assistant, use Mistral’s own Le Chat.

Why we built it

Mistral announced Le Chonk on 6 October 2026, and for the first days the only ways to try it were an API key or an account on Mistral’s own products. We wanted a page where anyone curious about the model could ask it a question in seconds, without setting up a developer account, and see what it costs before paying.

How we handle your data

If you join the waitlist we keep your email address only to tell you once when chat opens. Once chat is open we store your account name and email address from Google sign-in, your credit balance and the cost of each reply. Your chat messages are sent to Mistral’s API to produce answers; read our Privacy Policy for the details, and do not paste secrets or personal data you would not want a third party to process.
